Most of you reading this already know me but some might not.

My name is Carly and I'm 23 years old. In June of 2014 my husband Brian and I, with huge help from my parents, moved out of our two bedroom apartment into our very first house.

Brian and I got married in November 2012, at the time we were living with my parents but soon moved into a two bedroom apartment, our first place together.

We lived there happily with our cat Floppy and our bunny Sammy for about a year, then mid December 2013 I was headed out the door on my way to work when I saw a tiny kitten in the stairwell. I scooped him up, took him inside and knew as soon as he curled around my feet that he was mine.

I named him Jack and he was instantly part of the family. As he grew (and terrorized Floppy) we knew we needed a bigger home for our growing family. We started looking at apartments to rent, but didn't see much that met our needs. We talked a lot with my parents about buying a house, but who knew that dream would be a reality.

I found a real estate agent and we began looking. We started looking in the city at mostly bungalows and houses at a lower cost, we found a few we liked but our offers got turned down, it wasn't until we began looking in our hometown did we make some progress.

After the 5th house that passed us by we finally found it, the moment I walked in I had to have it. I had these feelings before at other houses (lots of them) but this was different. I walked in the side door (after our real estate agent had to basically put his shoulder into it) through the side porch and into the beautiful 1950's kitchen, the walls and ceilings adorned in tin, the fantastic double farmhouse sink, the functioning 1950's Fridigaire stove. I almost passed out.

Every room was better than the last, the exposed brick wall in the living room, the enormous attic, covered completely in tin, the front AND back staircase, and still my favourite, the front porch, closed in with large open windows that faced the park, and a quaint white wicker bench (which would soon be mine)

A few weeks later, lots of anxiety on my part, and a forest worth of paperwprk, it was ours, our very own home!

A few weeks have passed since we got our keys and the work is in full swing, I've created this blog to share and archive everything that we find and all that happens, I hope you enjoy.
