Hello, my name is Carmen Youland and I am a graduate student at Full Sail University completing my Master’s degree in New Media Journalism. This degree is the first of it’s kind and I am excited new degree.

I graduated from Auburn University Montgomery in 2011 with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts of English. After graduating I became a studio photographer. This is where I found my passion in life. Once I found my eye for photography, I was able to create unique and lasting memories for all occasions. During this time I became familiar with studio lighting and photo editing.

In 2012 I became a substitute teacher and began freelance photography. This is very rewarding. I am able to create my own schedule and employ my creativity on a daily basis. Working as a substitute teacher allows my creativity to strengthen on a daily basis. Children are the roots of creativity and they can be very inspiring.

I choose to complete my M.A. in New Media Journalism because I feel that social media is a popular media outlet. I believe this New Media Journalism the future of news and journalism.
