Carmen leads a double life, being both an underwater archaeologist and international model. Born in Seville, Spain, and raised in Portugal with an English/Scottish mother and Egyptian/Spanish father. She speaks English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, Italian and Arabic.

Archaeology: Carmen holds a PhD in Archaeology (funded by AHRC) and MSc with Distinction in Maritime Archaeology at the University of Southampton, England. She has worked alongside renowned archaeologists such as Dr. Lucy Blue, Prof. Jon Adams, Dr. Christopher Begley, and Peter Campbell. She has undertaken various international maritime and terrestrial archaeological surveys and excavations, as well as geoarchaeological, geospatial and conservation projects (e.g. UK, Oman, Egypt, India, Spain, Montenegro, Croatia, Albania). She is an AAUS & ESDP Scientific Diver.

Modelling: Carmen is an agency-represented model, having worked internationally in London, Paris, NYC, LA, Chile, Iceland, Dubai, Cyprus, Lisbon. Major accomplishments include publications in Vogue UK and Italia, winner of V&A Museum’s Horst competition, London Fashion Week runways, billboard campaigns and magazine covers, modelling underwater and in Icelandic ice caves. As an ambassador for ethical fashion, her work has actively supported and represented anti-human trafficking campaigns, such as the Freedom Campaign with A21, & Fashioned for Freedom, where she was selected to close the show modelling Vivienne Westwood. She was appointed ‘Features Editor & Industry Expert’ and creative writer for Fashion Shift Magazine, worked as a production manager/coordinator for large-scale shoots, and published interviews/articles.

Media/Entertainment: Carmen has been interviewed in ancient Muziris in India for a documentary on MarineBiz TV Channel, Dubai. She has been interviewed about her modelling and archaeology career for international magazines, e.g. Thrifty Hunter LA and Fashion Shift. She works as a professional Multilingual Voice-Over, has TV Presenter training by Pinewood Studios, and presented at British Film Institute (BFI). She has undertaken acting roles in short-films and adverts, and performed as a dancer in short-films and shows. As an artist, she has presented original work in exhibitions and won competitions. Musically, she has sung for emerging music producers in the UK and Germany, with original recordings and collaborations. A recent highlight includes recording at Abbey Roads Studio as a competition finalist.
