Caroline Grice
Student in Athens
Hello! I’m Caroline Grice and I am from Atlanta, Georgia. From that you might gather that I do not like to travel far from home considering Atlanta is only 53 miles away from Athens, however my family and I have been traveling since I was just four years old. Once I was able to sit on a plane without absolutely screaming my head off, as babies on planes do, we traveled to Mexico. Since that first trip to Mexico we have revisited three other times. I have also traveled to Ecuador, Puerto Rico, Spain, Paris, and many more. This has been my go to for a fun fact about myself and is even better for the game ‘Two truths and a lie’. When I express that I have been to more countries than states people find it hard to believe. I am extremely grateful that this is one of my truths in said game because I have been able to experience so many different cultures and experiences. For example, in Ecuador we spent a day repelling down waterfalls of all different sizes and ended that same day with driving up a mountain to swim in volcano heated hot springs. Every trip we take we bring back something to remember it, that trip being Alpaca fur blankets that are extremely soft (and harmless to the animal). Early on we began to collect Christmas tree ornaments to hang once we get a giant tree, usually being somewhere between 10-14 ft tall. Somehow, even with a tree that large we are running out of room for all of these ornaments as we bring home not just one for the entire family, but one each which adds up to five new ornaments to hang and tell stories about. The ornaments range from handmade coconut carvings from vendors in villages to angels made out of palm tree fronds. This is one of my favorite family traditions and I cannot wait to continue it on with a family I grow on my own one day.
