Caroline Patenode

Caroline Patenode is a current PhD candidate in the Biology Department at Columbia University. Her research focuses on metabolic engineering in baker's yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and developing synthetic biology tools to facilitate that process.

SInce 2012 she has been a Morningside Campus President of Women in Science at Columbia (WISC), a post-bachelor's organization devoted to supporting women and minorities pursuing careers in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields. WISC's work includes a number of outreach programs in conjunction with local middle schools, a professional development series, and a variety of networking opportunities for current students and postdocs to interact with professionals in STEM fields.

Caroline is also a member of New York Women in STEM (NYWiS), and the New York Academy of Sciences.
