When I was in preschool, I wore bathing suits over my clothes every day. This was my earliest childhood fixation, other than hiding my parents' keys. I was a competitive swimmer from an early age, and just as fixations come and go, so did my swimming career. As I progressed through elementary school, I hated the line on socks that sat right below my toes. I couldn't get over the feeling, so I began to wear my socks inside out every day. As I grew older, my hatred faded because I became obsessed with fun patterned socks, and those don't look good inside out. When new friends asked me what I wanted for my birthday, it was always socks. On the day I returned to Athens after winter break, I was greeted by a first college friend with a gift containing, not one but two brand new pairs of socks featuring festive symbols and playful words. Though this gesture meant the world to me, this friend had already proven worthy prior to winter break considering as I rode to the Atlanta airport I realized I forgot my stuffed animal Dolphie, my lovie and pride and joy, in my dorm bed so obviously, I texted the same friend begging her to grab Dolphie and bring him back to Richmond, VA. She didn't hesitate to say yes, and later I was rejoiced with my lovie. Dolphie is my longest-lasting fixation and most definitely never-ending.
I watched my friends mistreat their stuffed animals by putting them in their closets, just saying hi in passing, and it made me feel awful for them. So when my middle school boyfriend gifted me a beanie boo from a gas station out of the blue, I thought Yep, he's the one. Though that "relationship" was short-lived, I now have a farm of twenty-plus Beanie boo stuffed animals because I began collecting them at almost every gas station. Though I have many more fixations I could touch on through my life thus far, like legos, (I wish I didn't run out of my word count or that'd be a great one to touch on), I constantly find myself becoming enthralled with new things and hobbies which attests a lot to my personality because I like to keep life interesting and add meaning to seemingly simple things.
