Carol Jarvis

Carol Jarvis is a much in-demand freelance trombonist, who works almost exclusively in all fields of the profession. Playing trombone, keyboards and singing backing vocals, Carol can be found touring the world working with internationally renowned ensembles from the London Symphony Orchestra to the Symphony Orchestra of India, as well as performing regularly in London’s West End shows. If that wasn’t enough, Carol has toured and recorded extensively with stars such as Sting, Queen, Seal, Michael Bolton, Amy Winehouse and Bon Jovi. Originally from Newport Pagnell, Carol studied trombone with Chris Houlding, John Iveson and Andy Berryman at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and graduated with the highest qualifications possible. During this time she gained many awards including major scholarships in the UK and USA. She has had numerous trials for trombone positions in many of the UK’s leading orchestras and her session work features on a number of commercial soundtracks for feature films, advertisements, jingles, albums and singles. Carol has also contributed to myriad commercial pop tracks and as such her work has appeared in the Top 10 UK charts several times. Over the past little while Carol’s TV work has included the recording of a BBC Doctor Who soundtrack, performing at the Brit Awards, on the prestigious Royal Variety Performance, working with the Sugababes and fixing and performing in the house band on the TV series ‘Chris Moyles Quiz Night’. Carol contracted the orchestra for Sting’s European tour and DVD recording ‘If On a Winter’s Night’. Carol has been part of audition panels judging international trombone competitions on many occasions around the globe. She is also well known for coaching and has given masterclasses throughout the world including Lucerne Conservatoire in Switzerland, University of California in Los Angeles, Rice University in Houston, Mexico City University and Lima Conservatoire in Peru. Carol is a professor of trombone at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music in London, a past President of the British Trombone Society and on the Board of the International Trombone Festival. As well as performing and teaching, Carol has written orchestral arrangements for a whole host of different artists and genres.
