Carol Kiriakos

As a well-regarded psychiatrist based in Southern California, Dr. Carol Kiriakos applies her expertise in psychotherapy and medication management to assist clients at her private practice in Beverly Hills and at A New Journey Eating Disorder Center, a clinic based in Santa Monica. In addition to her endeavors in patient care, Dr. Kiriakos operates as a committed and active researcher who has published several articles and contributed a book chapter on psychological disorders associated with pregnant and postpartum women.

While pursuing her undergraduate studies in psychology at the University of California, Los Angeles, Dr. Carol Kiriakos co-authored an article with several prominent researchers titled “Normal Postoperative Febrile Response in the Pediatric Orthopedic Population.” The article appeared in the Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics in 1998. Four years later, Dr. Kiriakos collaborated with a colleague to write a journal article titled “Stiff-Man Syndrome: A Case Report and Review of the Literature,” which appeared in Psychosomatics. For Psychiatric Times. She also penned a 2006 piece with two colleagues titled “Mental Health Aspects of Miscarriage and Induced Abortion.”

In addition to her journal articles, Dr. Carol Kiriakos co-authored a book chapter for Psychiatric Disorders in Pregnancy and the Postpartum, an edited anthology of scholarly research articles published by Humana Press in 2006. Dr. Kiriakos’ chapter dealt with the special case of bipolar disorder as it manifests in pregnant and postpartum women.

An active member of the professional community of psychologists, Dr. Carol Kiriakos holds membership in the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and the Southern California Psychiatric Society (SCPS). Dr. Kiriakos serves on the Newsletter Committee of the SCPS.
