Carol Stull

A dedicated wife and mother of three, Carol Stull maintains a commitment to ensuring the well-being of her family, even in the most difficult times. After marrying her husband, Carol Stull looked forward to the many adventures that awaited her as a military wife, unsure of what to expect but eager to embark on a new chapter in her life. During the early years of the marriage, Carol Stull’s husband began an extensive course of schooling and training that required he spend long periods away from home, leaving her with a heavy load of child-rearing responsibilities. Facing these challenges with a remarkably positive attitude, she soon acquired a host of skills that would prove essential after the U.S. military selected her husband for service in Southeast Asia. For Carol Stull, departing from the United States meant leaving her dearest friends and relatives, as well as the culture she grew up in. Saying a bittersweet goodbye to all that felt safe and familiar, Mrs. Stull focused the bulk of her energy on facilitating a comfortable transition for her children, She was highly aware of the potential trauma they could experience following a relocation that placed them thousands of miles away from cherished peers, schools, and the town they knew as home. Arriving in Bandung, Indonesia, a large metropolis located approximately 140 kilometers southeast of Jakarta, Carol Stull immediately sought to adjust to a wholly unfamiliar world. Able to speak basic Indonesian, the language of her adopted country, Carol Stull also lacked a consistent means of transportation for herself and her children, relying on her husband’s driver when possible. Despite some setbacks, Carol Stull managed to create a happy life for her family, recognizing how lucky she was to share this journey with her husband and children. She currently resides in Brandon, Florida.
