Chair of Documentary

Caron is the Chair of the Documentary Department at NYFA’s Los Angeles location. Her non-fiction work spans many years from feature documentary films to corporate, industrial and educational videos to nationally syndicated radio programs, many of which she produced and directed. She was responsible for creating the sound design and was part of the production team for the Oscar winning feature documentary “Long Way Home.” Most recently Caron has acted as a consultant to documentary filmmakers helping them with business plans, sound mixing, creating a film festival strategy and more.
She has worked closely with the IDA (International Documentary Association) for many years. Caron has judged films ranging from feature documentaries to shorts to student films over the past six years and usually sees from 70 to 100 new documentaries per year. She has done work for public broadcasting at KCET, KCRW and KPCC.
Caron taught at Cal State Northridge and the University of Texas before coming to NYFA. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism (BJ) and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA).
