In 2008 my husband and I founded The Charis Project, a non profit dedicated to protecting and caring for kids at risk of human trafficking. Over time we've discovered that the best way to do this is to support families, especially mothers. A strong healthy family is the safest and best place for a child to grow up.

We currently live in Thailand just 7km from the Myanmar border. We have 6 children. I gave birth to the last two at home completely unassisted in Thailand. I had already had 3 midwife assisted home births in North America.

Our kids are "unschooled", I teach local women classes in childbirth and baby care.

Sometimes I write about the crazy adventure that my life is. Oh yeah, and that is a picture of me breast feeding my 5th child while riding an elephant, and my 3 year old takes a nap on my leg.
