About ten years ago I arrived in New Zealand, I was a small, embittered British public school boy who wanted nothing more than to abandon my family and board the next flight back home to the England - the centre of my known universe.

In that decade much has changed. I am still small but less embittered. In my heart I am still a public school boy but I am also a university drop-out. I am apart from my family, but the ocean between us is the Cook Straight and not the Atlantic Ocean. The centre of my universe has expanded to encompass more than my twelve year old self could have comprehended - I am not a Kiwi, but nor could I call myself an Englishman. I live somewhere between and the world is more my home than any one country.

I set up this account as part of The Breakup Documents, a site I'm establishing to gain closure after the dissolution of a two-and-a-half year relationship.
