Carter Pate
With Top Secret U.S. government clearance, Carter Pate has considerable experience in handling governmental contracts in his current position as Global and U.S. Managing Partner of Government Services, Capital Projects, and Infrastructure at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLC. From 2005 to 2009, Mr. Pate served as the U.S. Managing Partner of Government Services for the firm, during which time he rebuilt the company’s government services practice out of Washington, D.C. In addition to his experience as a consultant, Carter Pate holds certification as a Public Accountant, a Fraud Examiner, an Insolvency and Reorganization Accountant, a Turnaround Professional, and a Government Financial Manager. Carter Pate attended Greensboro College in North Carolina, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in May 1976. After completing his BS, Mr. Pate accepted a position as a Commercial Lending Officer and Assistant Vice President at Home Federal Bank in Greensboro, which he held until 1979. In 1980, he joined William Hudson Chemical Trading in New York as Finance Director. After seven years with William Hudson, Carter Pate left the company to co-found Pate, Winters & Stone, a management consulting firm where he specialized in crisis management, turnarounds, restructurings, workouts, and bankruptcies for nearly 10 years. As a Founding Partner, Carter Pate not only handled a wide range of client accounts and challenges, but he also helped build up the consulting company, hiring as many as 200 employees and establishing the firm’s reputation in the field. During his years with Pate, Winters & Stone, Mr. Pate’s largest project included serving as President, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and member of the Board of Directors at Sun Coast Industries, where he directed the firm’s two-year restructuring, ultimately earning it a feature spot in Fortune magazine as one of the Best Performing Stocks of 1994. Carter Pate left Pate, Winters & Stone to accept a position with PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1996. In his spare time, Carter Pate supports a number of charities and other organizations, including Habitat for Humanity International, United Way Worldwide, and The American National Red Cross. He enjoys spending time outside and particularly likes big game fishing, scuba diving, hunting, boating, and playing golf.
