I am originally from Lexington SC and currently live in the White Knoll community. I moved in second grade and my first teacher was Mrs. Curtis. She was my favorite teacher. She welcomed me, loved me and encouraged me to become anything I wanted. I had dreams of owning a horse farm, becoming a photographer, and a thousand other things, but I always came back to the idea of becoming a teacher like Mrs. Curtis who could inspire others to be the best they could be. Once I graduated high school, I went to USC Upstate in Spartanburg and obtained my BA in Early Childhood Education. I met my husband in high school and now we have two active, loving, creative boys, Connor (13) , and Gavin (10) our Labradoodle Cody and a spunky kitten-Zelda.

In 2018 I completed my Master's degree from Anderson University.

I also recently completed an add on certification program through Francis Marion as a Teacher of Children of Poverty. Working in a Title One school now for 15 years I feel strongly about the effects of poverty on a child’s education. I look to implement many of the action plans in a larger scale by writing grants in several areas to help our community.

Currently, I am the 4K teacher at Saxe Gotha Elementary School in Lexington SC. I have been in 4K for 12 years now and it is my passion and I love every minute! I enjoy coming to work everyday and watching the learners grow and become leaders! I previously taught first grade for 4 years before I moved to four-year old kindergarten.

In my spare time, I love going camping, crafting and singing. We recently have become interested in boating as well. Nothing fancy, we just like to do it for fun. We do go shrimping as well which combines both boating and camping, but it is a good bit of work. When we have a chance to go, we enjoy it (usually around Summerville). I sing with 6 of my cousins and we call ourselves “Common Thread.” We are on YouTube!! I am mostly just “mom” and that’s where most of my time goes, but I have found that building with Legos can be fun (it’s all about the company!)
