Teacher in San Francisco, CA
Hello! My name is Casey Chon and I use she/her pronouns.
I'm currently an educator in a mixed grade classroom of grades 3, 4, and 5 in the San Francisco Bay Area! I am passionate about antiracism and educating children in a way that is truly inclusive and equitable.
In the summer of 2020, I received a Teach for Justice grant from Teachers Pay Teachers to create content for educators that focuses on antiracism and social justice. I wrote a unit on athletic change makers of color for elementary school students. My store will constantly be updated with new material focusing mostly on upper elementary novel resources like vocabulary lists. The store is called Office Hours with Casey, I'd love your support!
Before teaching, I went to Hampshire College in Amherst, MA, and wrote my senior thesis on how Arabic is taught in the United States in institutions of higher education, and what should change. I then got my Masters of Arts in Teaching Arabic as a Modern Foreign Language from Boston University, and did my student teaching at a magnet school.
In my spare time, you can find me cooking, reading books, or making a matcha latte. Carpe diem.
