Casey Vaasjo

Bridgewater, NS

As a young entrepreneur, Casey lets her life be led by joy, simplicity, and authenticity. After graduating from Acadia University with a BMus in percussion, Casey has taken learning in to her own hands backpacking through South India, working on organic farms and intentional communities, practicing yoga, volunteering as a Curriculum Research Intern with the New Earth Institute, and self-directing her studies as a counsellor and support worker. She is currently living on the South Shore of Nova Scotia with her feisty black dog. When she is not waitressing at Mateus Bistro (where she loves to talk wine), Casey grows organic produce (open for barter!), makes handmade soaps and shampoos (check out her business Neck of the Woods handmade soaps), and learns about plant medicine. Casey believes the foundation for positive change in the world begins with communication and offers Empathic Communication workshops based on the principles of Non-Violent Communication and Shadow Work. She has shared her work at the Tatamagouche FreeSchool, the Second Story Women's Centre, the "Be the Peace" Campaign to end relationship violence, NS PIRG and numerous other private parties. She is available as a personal support worker, guest presenter, and workshop facilitator.
