I am a writer. I am studying at the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism and I would like to specialize in environmental studies. I was recently hired by Dr. Yusuf Kalyango, the director of the Scripps International Institute of Journalism. I will be designing for Global Spotlight and running the twitter feed for the international institute at @scrippsiij. I am beyond thrilled to work for Dr. K and I am so grateful for the opportunity.

I joined the Society of Professional Journalists as a freshman last year and I had the opportunity to network with several successful journalists in the industry. I loved listening to their experiences and became inspired to do even more with my time in college because of SPJ. As a returning sophomore I will be on the executive board for SPJ and have taken the role as a programing assistant. We are all hoping that this year will be ground breaking for OU's SPJ chapter. We are even discussing the possibility of working with the National Association for Black Journalists. The diversity will help establish SPJ and NABJ as leaders of Scripps.

As a freshman I worked for The Post, a student run newspaper. I will continue writing for the local section of the paper. I mostly write about Athens City Council and everything they are doing to make Athens a safe and friendly place to live.

In addition to all of this, I still manage to find time for myself. I am on the Ohio University Women's Ultimate Frisbee team. I love working out with the team and traveling all over the US for tournaments. I am a strong believer in mind, body and spirit. I believe that if you don't treat your body right, it will affect your whole perspective. The Ultimate team is my rock; without them I would not be able to keep my head straight.

I want to specialize in environmental studies so that I can further equip myself to write about the importance of preserving nature. My dream job would be traveling and writing for the National Geographic. Don't get me wrong, I love writing and will write about anything, but my focus is in science journalism. Their is not enough emphasis on this area of journalism and personally, I find that the science section is the most entertaining, informative and intelligent section of a paper. I want to make the world a healthier place through my writing.

Now a little bit about my personal life... Besides staying fit with the Ultimate team, I stay active by running, hiking, and yoga. I am
