Cassandra Drescher
Student in Sudbury, ON, Canada
I was born and raised on a farm just outside the small town of Tillsonburg, Ontario, the oldest of three children, living in a multi-generational home. My guardians, being advocates for education and learning started my education at home, fostering my passion for education and school from a young age. In elementary school, I was given the chance to tutor my peers through a program called “Students Teaching Students” and later in high school was able to teach in 3 different classrooms for my Cooperative Education placements.
I was also afforded the opportunity by my parents to engage in sport throughout my life, and have been swimming competitively for the past 16 years through which I have taken part in many experiences that helped me to learn more about who I am and what I am capable of. One of these offerings has included being hired as a coach for the Delhi Waterdragons Swim Team in the summers, where I have been for 6 years applying what I have learned about teaching in a setting outside a classroom and exploring two of my passions at the same time.
It is through these opportunities and others given to me throughout my life that I have gained experience working with school aged children in many different levels and forms of educational settings. My passion for the education field only continues to grow and I hope to use this passion in a career setting for as long as I am able to.
