I'm a Junior at the University of Arkansas majoring in Journalism advertising/PR and minoring in marketing and political science. I'm looking to pursue a career in PR because I genuinely enjoy all the different aspects that PR encompasses. I've had opportunities in the past to work with celebrities and big personalities, whether that was in the green room or on stage. I do not know exactly where, or with what organization I will start working in PR, but, I do know that I have been instilled with a foundation for success.
I don’t remember a time where I did not know the answer to a series of questions my dad would ask: “How do you win?”, “How do you get better?” or “Who do you become like?” Little did I know that the answers would become the foundation for which I build my life upon. “Work hard,” “Work harder,” and “The people you hang around most”. Growing up in an environment where these questions are etched into your memory by age five, I never really took the time to comprehend what it was I was saying, therefore causing myself to not grasp the true value of the information I was learning. It was not until I reached a certain age of independence that I truly understood the importance of the words and how they would forever affect how I live my life.
Calculus is not learned without first knowing arithmetic. Running is not accomplished without first knowing how to walk. Success is not achieved without first having a foundation for which to work up from. I have a foundation that is rooted so deep in the ground that it is as immovable as the empire state building. It is this foundation that I intend to build my life upon. The sky is the limit and I endeavor to go as high as I can. And I know that I will be successful. “What does winning get you?” “Respect.” “What does respect get you?” “Influence.” “What does influence equal?” “Leadership.” “What can you do with leadership?” “Change the world.”
