Community health care leader Cástulo de la Rocha serves AltaMed Health Services Corporation as President and Chief Executive Officer, and he is recognized for his successful efforts in expanding health care access for minorities and people facing economic challenges. Since joining AltaMed more than three decades ago, Cástulo de la Rocha has led the corporation through numerous groundbreaking initiatives that have resulted in the ample provision of affordable health care for communities in Southern California.
Founded in 1969 as the East Los Angeles Barrio Free Clinic, AltaMed Health Services serves Los Angeles and Orange counties as the premier nonprofit community health clinic. AltaMed provides a wide range of comprehensive health care services, including primary medical care, women's health care, dental care services, and senior long-term services. In addition, the organization offers health programs such as HIV care, health education, drug treatment and prevention, chronic care support, and youth health programs. As President and Chief Executive Officer, Cástulo de la Rocha presides over all clinical and administrative affairs among AltaMed's more than 40 sites. Having led the organization since 1977, Mr. de la Rocha holds directorship over AltaMed's fiscal operations, as well as the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies.
An esteemed professional in his field, Cástulo de la Rocha is a member of several health care-related organizations. Currently, he serves on the Board of Governors of the LA Care Health Plan and the Board of Trustees of Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital. Mr. de la Rocha also serves as Regional Chair of the Surgeon General's Hispanic/Latino Health Initiative and as a Corporate Board Member of Blue Shield of California.
