My journey started when I became aware that like every Portuguese, meals are a ritual we have. We can spend 3 hours at the table with friends and family enjoying our amazing cuisine. But our amazing cuisine has a lot of heavy dishes focused mainly on meat and fish. Since I was a kid that salads and vegetables had a major part at the dinner table. We would always fight for that last piece of salad. But this fight was not part of every household I would go to. Often I would eat with friends and see that the greens were seen as an obligation and it would make me sad every time they weren't part of dinner.

I decided to right this blog to share with people that just like me, decided to eat mainly a plant based diet without depriving myself of certain foods and without fundamentalisms or labels. Discovering more about nutrition and collecting cooking books became a hobby. I hope you find some of this tips useful.

Cooking for me is a passion and the kitchen is my favorite place in the house. I do enjoy spending time there and I am aware that not everyone shares the same enthusiasm! :)

The beautiful thing about habits is that you are not born with them and you have the opportunity to create your own. It is said that it takes 21 days to create a new habit. I guess you can say that about establishing a new morning routine. But things do change a little when we talk about food.

We are used to certain foods and flavors and we can't even bare the thought of not eating some of them for the rest of our lives. Can't pass without a slice of bacon and a cheeseburger every once in a while! Fortunately we don't have to. This blog is simply about little changes you can make in your eating habits that will not only make you feel better but also healthier.

Nowadays there are a bunch of crazy diets that promise you height loss miracles. Stay away from those promises by reading about who's profiting with them and who's paying for their research. You will see on your own that certain foods have an energizing power while others make you want to spend the whole day in the couch watching movies. Not because spending a day in the couch watching a movie is an evening badly spent but because you don't want to do it everyday. I also like to enjoy comfort food in special occasions.

Eat what makes you feel good, you body know what it needs and asks you for it!
