I love to write, always remembering the following: "If I wouldn't want my mother to read it, why then would I write it?"© 2008. I have FIVE amazing and wonderful, grown children, more grand kids than you can imagine (think two baseball teams+). I love life. I'm surrounded by some wise and loving girl friends. Have lived in 5 different states, from the Great Southwest to the East Coast. Sewing is another passion! Some of my projects include: a tailored 3-piece man's suit and western shirts, diapers and rompers, shorts and T-shirts, PJ's and bathrobes, lingerie and swimsuits, dresses and blouses and tons of items for my home and for gifts. I make Christmas ornaments every year for my family. One year I didn't, and I have "never heard the end of it." RADIO HISTORY AND CAREER I (Cathy D) started out in radio many years ago by marrying a radio station. Yes, there was a man involved; he actually owned this 1000 watt AM day-timer in a small town in eastern New Mexico. One of my favorite people in the NM radio arena was Greg MacAlese. I met him when he was on staff with UPI in their local news bureau. Greg then went on to work for the Albuquerque Police Department. Greg is the founding father of "Crime Stoppers". What a privilege it was to be in on the ground floor; ours was one of the first radio stations to air this on-going program; the same one you are used to seeing on television. Greg is now referred to as one of the Pioneers in Criminal Justice. From there, I went to a country 5000 watt FM station in central Missouri where I enjoyed playing Lee Greenwood's God Bless the USA at least 2 to 3 times a night by "special request" for the fly boys at Whiteman AFB, then home of the "stealth fighter". I got to meet a lot of country stars as we were the gateway to Branson. Add to that St. Louis Cardinals Baseball AND Kansas City Royals Baseball! This DJ was in tall cotton! Next: Cathy D is off to West, by-the-grace-of-God, Virginia to a fantastic 50,000 watt FM station that programmed Southern Gospel music and Christian ministries' programs. I learned a lot in that market and was enriched to be surrounded by so much Goodness. All hillbilly jokes are true, so don't even go there! I was actually born in Lewis County in West Virginia. The family farm land is now mostly underwater, compliments of the Corps of Engineers that took our property for the Stonewall Jackson Dam and Lake (we not-so-lovingly refer to it as the Stonewall Jackson Dam Dam).
