Monument in Santiago de Compostela, España
The history of the Cathedral of Santiago begins in the year 813 with the discovery of the mausoleum with the relics of Apostle Santiago and the construction of a small stone and mud chapel.
In the following years, a second church is built as the first one remains small. It is destroyed in the year 997 by the attack of the Muslim caudillo Almanzor. In the year 1003 a third church was built.
The current Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela is the fourth and definitive church. The works begin in the year 1075, through the Chapel of the Savior, and its consecration takes place on April 21, 1211.
