Caterina Bellinetti

PhD Candidate, Editorial Assistant for the China Policy Blog, and Teaching Assistant, History of Art, Level 1 in Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom

She is a PhD candidate in History of Art at the University of Glasgow, School of Culture and Creative Arts. Her research focuses on Chinese war photography during the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937-1945). The topic is the sum of her academic interests and strengths: China, journalism, art and war photography.

She received my MChS in Chinese Studies from the University of Edinburgh in 2013 and her dissertation analyzed how Chinese newspapers portrayed the main events of the Vietnam War (1955-75) and the cultural impact they had in China.
Prior to this, she completed my BA in East Asian Languages and Culture (2005-08) and a MA in International Relations (2008-10), both at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. Her MA dissertation sparked her interest for war photography as she discussed the importance of Western and Vietnamese photographs during the Vietnam War (1955-75).
