Catherine Shannon
The Hague, Netherlands
I’m half Irish, half Indonesian and born in Saudi Arabia (a citizen of the world, if you will). I currently work at ReachLocal, an online marketing company based in the beautiful Dutch city of Amsterdam.
My interest in the digital marketing world started when I was an Online Communications Intern at Royal Philips Electronics, where I wrote my bachelor thesis on the topic of Online Community Management, specifically on how to make an online community loyal. My interest in social media especially grew when I volunteered as a community manager, writer and photographer at The Underground, an online magazine of The Hague. Confident with my writing and social media management skills, I applied for a Social Media Executive position at ReachLocal and I’ve been proud to stay with them ever since. Always curious on what I can learn in online marketing, my recent tasks now revolve around SEM and PPC campaigns.
In my free time, I practice landscape, portrait and architectural photography. I mainly submit my work for The Underground online magazine and recently was humbled to be selected to take part in the ‘I Love The Hague’ photo exhibition, sponsored by ABN Amro Bank and Matrix Orange.
Apart from photography, I also love singing and writing my own songs. This is why I joined the ‘Secret Singer Songwriter Society’, where I’ve had the exciting opportunity to be part of this year’s THISSFest (The Hague International Singer Songwriter Festival) crew and meet inspiring singer songwriters from all over the world.
If you’d like to connect with me to talk about online marketing/music/movies/photography, feel free to say hi on the following social media channels! I’ll be happy to have a chat. :-)
