I am a biotherapeutics R&D executive and scientific leader with more than 15 years of experience advancing RNA therapeutics, genetic medicines, cell therapies, and biologics. As a Director at Ginkgo Bioworks, I lead multidisciplinary teams and complex research programs, translating emerging technologies into rigorous, practical drug discovery strategies.

My scientific journey began in Colombia, where my parents, both educators, instilled in me a belief in service, integrity, and education. After studying clinical microbiology and immunology, I earned a Ph.D. in Genetics from Texas A&M University and completed postdoctoral research at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. My work on long non-coding RNAs received the National Academy of Sciences Cozzarelli Prize, along with support from several prestigious NIH fellowships.

I believe successful scientific leadership requires curiosity, empathy, adaptability, and the courage to follow the data. I am passionate about building resilient teams, mentoring scientists, connecting experimental and computational disciplines, and pursuing research that can ultimately improve patients’ lives. For me, success is measured not only by discoveries or awards, but also by the people I help grow.

Outside the laboratory, I enjoy Latin dancing, literature, international cinema, travel, volunteering, and spending time with my family and pets.
