Catherine Georges

Catherine Georges has been working at The School at Columbia University since in 2005. Before going to The School she taught a range of 2nd grade monolingual, 2nd, 3rd, and bridge (2nd and 3rd grade) bilingual classrooms over five years at P.S. 123. As a cohort leader for graduate students at Pace University, Catherine mentors 1st and 2nd year teachers working on their Masters degrees. Her mentoring also extends to her alma mater, Cornell University, where she is working with a student who is pursing a life-long interest in being a teacher in public school. Always looking to better her teaching skills, Catherine is a member of an all-teacher book club, where readings include professional development books. In addition, she has studied with Lucy Calkins and Patricia Cunningham at Teachers College, and has trained in Everyday Math, Math Advantage, Writer's and Reader's Workshop. At the school, she coaches Girls Vasity Basketball. Catherine hopes to share her passion for music and dance with her students, and is interested in intergenerational programs and its effects on young and old.
