About Me

Hi there :) Thanks for visiting my bio!

I have been teaching with the DPCDSB since 2007. I have bounced between schools every few years; this has allowed me to teach a variety of subjects and work in different roles. Although it used to intimidate me, I now enjoy change and welcome new opportunities. I appreciate the network of colleagues I have across my Board now, too. Collaboration and creativity propels me - I am always looking for more effective or efficient ways of doing.

I am currently working at a school in downtown Brampton. I started there as an Alternative Ed teacher, and am now the Student Success Teacher. You will often hear me saying “no bad days in Guidance” - I truly enjoy the role for all that it offers and my capacity to support students. I work with an incredible team of people who all bring different ideas, skills, and talents to the table. There is a very evident shared vision of student support, engagement, achievement, and sense of community. My time in Guidance has made me reconsider my future professional goals. I completed my PQP courses last year, but thinking I will pump the breaks on that pathway for the time being. I am taking this course to increase my skillset in Guidance, and hope to continue working in the department in some capacity.

On a personal note, I share my time between the GTA and Vancouver. The west coast is the best coast, am I right? I have my licence to teach in BC, too… that's a story for another day. In the meantime, I am looking forward to another Vancity summer just around the bend. Any guesses where I am in this photo?

Thanks again for stopping by my bio! I am looking forward to some great collaboration with you all over next several weeks.

Take care,

Catherine
