I am a Vietnamese-American, raised by immigrant parents, and I grew up in a low-income neighborhood in Northeast Los Angeles. It was there that I became committed to creating a positive social impact.

I previously worked in international development, specifically in off-grid energy access, supporting companies that provide solar energy solutions to those living without access to power in sub-Saharan Africa. I saw how innovative solar technology made a difference in people's lives, but also saw that customers stopped using a product if it wasn't easy to use or if they've had bad experiences with it in the past. This example taught me that no matter how sophisticated or well-intentioned a product is, it misses the mark if it is not designed with the people it wishes to serve.

As a designer, I am focused on listening to and understanding people, their goals and constraints, using that data to inform my design. I bring my curiosity, thoughtfulness, and push myself to think outside of my training, to think critically, and to understand people from their perspectives. I thrive in dynamic and collaborative environments.

When I'm not designing, I'm reading fiction (particularly sci-fi & fantasy), watching K-dramas or the MCU, or trying to perfect the chocolate chip cookie.
