Hi! I am a Washington, DC/Baltimore, MD based public affairs transportation consultant with more than 23 years experience in the transportation safety arena. As Principal of The Gilllen Group, I specialize in bringing non-profits, NGOs, businesses and government agencies together to create highway safety programs that save lives and prevent injuries on the nation’s highways. As a former National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) official with the U.S. Department of Transportation, I am proficient in behavorial safety issues including impaired driving, occupant protection, distracted driving and teen and older driving safety. Having served as the Managing Director of the Roadway Safety Foundation for the last seven years, I am also an expert on the engineering issues that affect roadway safety. My relationships with key safety organizations, government agencies including NHTSA, the Federal Highway Administration and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and transportation reporters around the country allow me to meet both private and public sector needs.
Since 2005, some of my clients have included AAA, the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, AARP, The American Highway Users Alliance, the Automotive Coalition for Traffic Safety, the Governors Highway Safety Association, National Organizations for Youth Safety, the National Safety Council, the Institute of Transportation Engineers, Mitsubishi Motors North America, Make Roads Safe, and the Roadway Safety Foundation, among many others.
