Cathy Ehorn
Employed as a civil servant since 1984, Cathy Ehorn currently holds the position of Supervising Accountant at the Glenn County Department of Finance. In this role since July 1, 2001, Ms. Ehorn assists with budget preparation for county departments and various special districts. Her position entails monitoring budget appropriations, auditing any adjustments, and a host of other accounting duties. Located in the City of Willows in the Sacramento Valley of Northern California, the Glenn County Department of Finance budgets for a population of close to 30,000. In addition to Cathy Ehorn’s other responsibilities as Supervising Accountant, she responds to internal and external inquiries relating to the county’s accounting and budgeting. Prior to accepting her current position 10 years ago, Cathy Ehorn worked her way through the ranks at the department, starting as an Accounting Clerk performing a variety of duties, including general clerical assignments. Eager to progress in the field of accounting, Ms. Ehorn pursued an extensive education while continuing to work full-time. Cathy Ehorn earned an Associate of Science in Business from Butte Community College (now Butte College) in 1986. She then attended night school to complete a Computer Science Certificate Program at the University of California, Davis. While furthering her education, Ms. Ehorn also continued on the road to success within the finance department moving into the position of Accounting Technician. During her time as Accounting Technician, Cathy Ehorn assisted with all aspects of budget preparation. Additionally, she spearheaded the enhancement of the county government’s accounting software. After eight years in this role, she was named Administrator/Analyst of the Automated Accounting System, a role that she held for three years. In 1999, Cathy Ehorn accepted the duties of Accountant III, monitoring grant programs for the county, compiling the State-required annual financial report, and assisting with tax collections. When not fulfilling her duties as the current Supervising Accountant, Cathy Ehorn contributes to community service as a First Responder and Dispatcher for the Willows Volunteer Fire Department (VFD). Her volunteer work with the fire department continues a family tradition; she and her late mother received recognition as Life Members of the Willows VFD Auxiliary.
