Cathy Fitzgerald understands the urgent key role the arts have for humanising and localising sustainability.

Combining experience in research biology & contemporary art practice (with an art practice PhD in Visual Culture) she has considerable knowledge of international art & sustainability policy and eco-social art practice.

She has also been involved in policy development for new-to-Ireland continuous cover forestry and for highlighting developing international law against ecocide.

Her PhD Thesis title is 'The Ecological Turn: Living Well with Forests to Articulate Eco-Social Art Practice using a Guattari ecosophy and action research framework.' Her PhD that combined art, forestry and politics drew from her ongoing forest transformation work The Hollywood Forest Story

She is an Irish-based New Zealander living in rural South East Ireland.
