Cathy Clark

Cathy Clark is Director of the CASE i3 Initiative on Impact Investing and a professor at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.

A former impact investor who has managed both foundation and private investment funds, Cathy has been an active pioneer for 25 years in the fields of impact investing and for-profit and nonprofit social entrepreneurship, creating powerful networks of leaders to turn disruptive ideas into systemic social change.

A leading authority in social entrepreneurship, impact investing, and impact assessment, she created an impact investment fund in 2001 with Fred Wilson and Jerry Colonna of Flatiron Partners, taught and directed a research program at Columbia Business School for 10 years, helped develop the standards for B Corporations, co-founded the Social Impact Exchange, and most recently created and directs CASE i3, the first global program at a top business school focused on impact investing. She also serves as global research coordinator for the Global Impact Investing Rating System, chair of Investors’ Circle, and supports global health entrepreneurs as part of the Social Entrepreneurship Accelerator at Duke.

Her former students work throughout the global ecosystem of social impact, including staff and founders of Agora Partnerships, CALPERS, Catchafire, Echoing Green, Embrace, Endeavor, Ford Foundation, FSG, the Global Impact Investing Network, Nonprofit Finance Fund, Peeled Snacks, Skoll World Forum, Simpa Networks, USAID, and many others.
