Furthering her work with former Vice President Al Gore, Zoi went on to act as founding Chief Executive Officer of the Alliance for Climate Protection, a nonprofit entity that educates the public on solutions for mitigating the impending climate crisis. Her most recent involvement with the federal government was under the Obama administration, with the United States Department of Energy and the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy department.

Cathy Zoi has worked with overseas companies such as the New South Wales EPA and the New South Wales Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA), serving as Assistant General Director and Founding CEO, respectively. In conjunction with SEDA, Zoi helped create the largest solar-powered suburb in the world.
