Catriona Lightfoot

Cork born viola player Catriona Lightfoot has been teaching violin and viola since 2000. During her years of being a viola and violin teacher Catriona has always had positive feedback from students, parents and colleagues alike. Her students excel in their fields and she has helped many of them perform to a high level in concerts and exams.
Whatever age group or level she is teaching, her approach is enthusiastic and playful while expecting a high level of hard work and concentration.
Catriona has been a violin and viola teacher in London since 2009. She is a substitute teacher and 'String Time' class assistant at Junior Trinity Laban, London teaching up to grade 8. She was a 'Language Through Music' workshop leader at Wendell Park Primary School and has been a substitute string sectional coach and violin/viola teacher at Highbury Grove Secondary School, London. She also teaches adult and children students privately from her home in South East London.
Catriona enjoys a varied freelance career in London. She is a graduate of the Cork School of Music. Catriona is a keen orchestral player performing with many prestigious orchestras including the BBC Symphony and Concert Orchestras, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London Contemporary Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of London, Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, Irish Baroque Orchestra and RTE Concert Orchestra.
Catriona has always had a passion for chamber music. She was a member of the Quay String Quintet, prize winners of the RTE Millennium Musician of the Future Ensemble Prize and plays with many chamber ensembles, recently playing with the Moonfleet Trio on a cruise around Norway.
Catriona is an experienced session musician. She has done many recordings in Abbey Road Studios, Angel Studios,Windmill Studios, RTE and BBC Studios among others.
Catriona enjoys opera and was an actor musician in the award winning Pagliacci production and in Orfeo ed Euridice in Cork's Everyman Palace Theatre. She plays with the Wexford Opera Festival Orchestra.
In her spare time Catriona loves to run in beautiful places, cooking and chatting.
