Finding the passion that you want to follow for the rest of your life is probably one of the most challenging things a teenager can do. Being able to find that passion takes time and could decide the rest of your future. I started my journey when I was little, just like most children do. You dream of being an astronaut, marine biologist, the president of the United States, a popular Youtuber, or a musician. As we get older we recognize that these dreams aren’t realistic so we start really exploring. I wanted to be a Veterinarian when I was little, then ended up changing to being a doctor. I realized I always stayed on the healthcare pathway but I truly didn’t find my passion till my Junior year of high school.
Taking a healthcare pathway course in high school opened my eyes to many different occupations from what I thought I wanted to be, a Pediatric General Surgeon, to figuring out my true passion for Pediatric Sports Medicine and wanting to become a Physician's Assistant to specialize in these areas of expertise.
During my high school healthcare courses I was given the opportunity to shadow a profession of my choosing. I took it upon myself to choose 2 different areas of professions. The first of these specialties being a Regenerative and Orthopedic Spine Institute where I was able to explore jobs from an X-Ray technician to a Physical Therapist, as well as an Orthopedic Surgeon. This was an amazing experience. The other opportunity was with an Athletic Trainer that truly showed me what it was like to love your profession. She led me to see an area of expertise that I could truly see myself working in for years to come.
