After earning a BA in History at the University of Rochester, I began teaching public high school social studies classes in 1996. My employer developed an aggressive plan to deploy networked computer technologies in classrooms, so I purchased my first PC to scour the Internet in search of teaching ideas, which evolved into an ongoing process of digital curation.

Because NYS teachers are required to earn a graduate degree in a related field in order to maintain their professional certification, I began vetting accredited educational technology programs in 1997. To save costs and provide the flexibility needed to continue teaching full-time, I enrolled in an online program at Walden University, earning an MS in Educational Change & Technology Innovation in 2000.

In 1998, I co-founded RegentsPrep.org, which was abandoned in 2017 by the administration of the school district that provided hosting for the project. I was responsible for designing and developing Social Studies learning materials for use by NYS students studying for the high-stakes NYS Regents exams. The project was funded by a multi-million dollar NYS Education Department Title III Technology Literacy Challenge Grant in order to provide effective online review materials accessible to all high school students in the state. We attracted an overwhelming national audience due to our philosophical commitment to never charge for, nor limit access to, our expanding library of free online resources. In 1999, I was asked to coordinate the ongoing development of the entire project, with a particular focus on high-quality Science and Social Studies review materials.

I registered the domain name ClassroomRevolution.com in 1999, and partnered with fellow educator Jeffery Watkins in 2003 to co-found ClassroomRevolution, LLC. Together, we began providing commercial online learning and content services. In 2004, we became a founding member of the Moodle Partners program to ensure the ongoing financial support of the open-source Moodle learning management system (LMS).

We've grown tremendously since 2004, and are proud of our commitment to learning as one of the longest serving Moodle Partners in the world, allowing our work to benefit learning in every sector of the economy. I am actively involved in our daily operations, while continuing to pursue my passion for online and blended learning as a Managing Partner.
