C. L. Chávez, Ph.D.
Educator in Fort Lauderdale, Florida
I am a bilingual and bicultural educator passionate about integrating digital tools in my 21st century curriculum.
I have taught Spanish I through AP Spanish, and I am an adjunct who teaches at the graduate and undergraduate levels at colleges and universities in South Florida. I am a subject matter specialist who created an online course for a career college in New York. During the summer, I am an AP Spanish Language consultant (speaking and writing) and former Table Leader veteran of 30 years.
If you walk into one of my classes you will see a student-centered environment where students are encouraged to produce in the target language. Using a performance-based approach to project assignments, I see that student are more engaged and retain more when they create with the
language.
The national standards drive my teaching practice. The ACTFL proficiency guidelines help me set goals.
