Ciaran Dowle
Student in Hereford, United Kingdom
I am a student currently studying horticulture at NTU living in Nottingham but my home is Herefordshire. My interests range from gardening to entrepreneurship and I am also interested in travel.
With a wide family background in the horticultural industry, all of whom have started from scratch, I feel I have been exposed to entrepreneurial spirit from a young age. Enjoying be surrounded by the work my Dad carries out as a landscaper and designer really helped me make the decision to follow into the same industry.
I got my first part time job at 14 as a paper round boy. The early morning's were far from easy! I then went on to pot-wash and waiter at a local cafe for 2 years, before then being employed by Morrison's and working in various departments before starting university. This experience I believe has developed me as a working person, and has exposed me to different types of environments and situations alike. I would describe my work ethic as hard working, reliable and motivated. I work well as part of a team, to which I hold communication the most important way to work well, however I have also shown independence working on my own and being able to self motivate. I always aim to carry out my work to the highest standard and to the best of my ability.
My plans for the future are bright and open. I wish to venture out and explore different areas of the horticultural industry before settling down in one. Many areas excite my interest in plants and working outdoors and I'm very much looking forward to a long and prosperous career in the world of horticulture.
