Cynthia Taglavore

I was born in Shreveport, Louisiana but raised in the rural community of Keithville, La. In May 1987, I graduated from Huntington High School. In order to purse my lifelong passion for helping others, the way others helped me through what life throws at us, I chose to attend Northeast Louisiana Unviversity, now known as Uviersity of Louisana at Monroe. At ULM, I majored in Social Work with a minor in Sociology. I graduated in December 1993.

  • After pursuing a career in Social Work, I felt like I was not acheiving all that I needed to out of life. I took a position as an Early Childhood Special Education teacher at Oak Hill Elementary School in August 2001. My placement was in a full day preschool classroom which included 11 students with special needs. This is how I fell in love with being a teacher and pursued a carrer in teaching Birth to 5 years with special needs.

I am now starting my 14th year of teaching children with special needs. Some years are more challenging than others. It is a very rewarding experience to watch a student learn and grow.
