Cecillia Hailey grew up in a family where teaching was part of everyday life. With her mother and five aunts all working as educators, she was surrounded by examples of commitment to learning and student growth. Inspired by that environment, she pursued her education, earning a Bachelor’s in Microbiology and Chemistry from Arizona State University. She completed a Master’s in Health Education and Advanced Schooling at the Graduate Institution at the University of Arizona. Also, she attended one year of medical school at Morehouse School of Medicine, building a solid foundation in science and health education.
Hailey became known for her ability to teach reading effectively, helping students at different skill levels gain confidence and ability. Her approach to curriculum development focused on clarity, structure, and practical application, making her lesson plans helpful to her students and as a guide for other educators. Her teaching style combined clear organization with adaptability, ensuring lessons could be tailored to the needs of various learners.
Her professional career includes time as a Science and Health Professor, where she worked on programs to improve nutrition, support healthy weight management, and reduce stress. She also spent nearly a decade teaching health education online to students from many parts of the world. Her courses emphasized public health, wellness, and preventive care and were grounded in evidence-based practices. She used assignments, discussions, and presentations to track progress and integrated technology to make the learning process more engaging and interactive for a diverse international audience.
Hailey’s experience also extends to leadership roles. She served as an Assistant Principal in Roatan, Honduras, gaining valuable insight into education in a multicultural setting. Later, she became Dean of Education for a proprietary school, overseeing academic programs and supporting teachers in their work. She also served as an online English consultant for Roehampton Online University in London, teaching students across Asia. Her role focused on conversational fluency, grammar, and cross-cultural communication. She developed customized lesson plans for different proficiency levels and age groups, using digital tools to keep learners engaged and active throughout their sessions.
Fluency in English and Spanish has been essential to her ability to reach people from various backgrounds. Outside of her professional life, Cecillia Hailey enjoys traveling, a passion influenced by her father’s service in the Air Force. She reads regularly, rides motorcycles, and enjoys fishing. She stays active through weight training and water aerobics, valuing physical fitness as part of her lifestyle. She also loves animals, particularly horses, and has a Great Dane named Muhammad Ali.
In addition to her work in education and health, she is a member of the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. She enjoys watching films and television, with a strong appreciation for classic sitcoms such as The Andy Griffith Show, I Love Lucy, and The Munsters. She also follows current streaming series, balancing her love for timeless favorites with modern entertainment.
Hailey’s earlier years were also marked by leadership and achievement. At Manzano High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico, she served as Senior Class President and was active in track and field, cheerleading, student government, and theater. She was crowned Ms. Black Arizona in 1985-86 and established Ms. Arizona Day, an unofficial celebration recognizing the state’s heritage and beauty. She was also placed as the first runner-up in Ms. Galaxy International is a competition celebrating women worldwide.
