Teacher, Father, and Life Coach in Elsburg, South Africa
My philosophy as a teacher:
Thank you for taking the time reading my short bio.
I am currently a deputy principal at Laerskool Elsburg. My aim is to become a teacher in another country as I am driven by change. Teaching has a great appeal to me because of my perspective that teaching is a lifelong commitment to promoting equity amongst learners and closing the achievement gaps in all areas, including; gender, socio-economic levels, race, ethnicities, and learning capabilities. Having a community of equity does not mean that everyone is treated equally; but rather that each person is treated fairly and with respect.
I have been teaching for 28 years in the wonderful diverse country of South Africa. I have been exposed to various cultures and diversity. This has influence my believe that in order to ensure effective teaching a learning takes place one must become a lifelong learners. Cultural intelligence place an important role in the classroom as promoted by the social ecological theory. I will strive to treat my learners with respect by constantly keeping in communication with parents and caregivers
My aim is to allow each learner that I work with to be given the opportunity to reach his or her fullest potential with as much time spent in the general education setting as possible. I consider myself a lifelong learner, and thus, I am constantly reflecting on my work with these learners. Through experience I have learned the importance of striving to advance the character of each learner and to learn to respect themselves as well as other people and life.
