Cees Franke

Since June 2014 Cees Franke is founder and CEO of zMerce. A leading startup working on marketing technology and marketing automation software based in A-Lab Amsterdam.Cees Franke (1954) is a driven and passionate human being. As well as having built up years of experience in sales, marketing communication, photography & design (since 1971), in 2004, 2005 & 2009 he completed the courses on Picture Communication and Documentary Director at the Media Academy (formerly the Sandberg Institute) in Hilversum.

Since 1983, he has worked as a designer, photographer and communication consultant, and since 2005 as a film maker. As secretary of the stichting platVorm (since 1996), together with Rien Bonte, writer and lecturer in Dutch, between 1996 and 1998 he was publisher and editor-in-chief of the regional magazine for culture and the arts, platVorm.

In 2009, he handed over control of his design and communication agency Communications 2020, and decided to dedicate himself to film and fine-art photography. In 2010 the film ‘Het Uitgestrekte Land (This Vast Land)' is the first free production to emerge from this decision. Followed up by documentary Frozen Kids in 2012 ( Docs For Sale Catalogue IDFA) .

Alongside film making, his other passion is photography. The central theme in his free work is the confrontation that takes place in the mind of the person observing the work, more specifically the themes of time and time perception.Cees Franke is member of EDN ( European Documentary Network). EDN is a global network for professionals working with documentary film and TV. Over 1000 members from more than 60 countries have joined EDN.
