Celeste Goulding

Hello, I am an Australian Artist who works with watercolour and gouache paints on paper.

I am also a Classical piano teacher.

I have been painting for 40 years and currently specialise in romantic fantasy works with Indian themes. Being of Indian origin, I have visited the north west of India several times and am fascinated by many aspects of Rajasthani culture - not only Indian miniature paintings but also Rajasthani history, textiles, jewellery, literature and architecture. From my earliest paintings, I have been drawn to fantasy, myths and legends and when I completed my Masters in Graphic Design and Visual Arts, I explored the Illustration of Fairy Tales. This was followed by 8 years as a children's book Illustrator, working with publishers in the UK, US and Australia for books and related publications sold in more than 15 countries. During that time, I also taught Art at college. More recently, I have studied postgraduate Indian Art History and Islamic Art History in London and at Oxford. In my latest projects, I have been studying with a Master painter from India, learning traditional painting techniques which I then adapt to my own style. My work draws on Rajasthani aesthetics to tell whimsical stories of my own invention and in this way I draw viewers into my private world of artistry.
