Teacher Consultant and Special Educator in Ann Arbor Area
I’m a Teacher Consultant with the Washtenaw Intermediate School District, where I partner with educators and families to develop creative, collaborative solutions for students experiencing complex learning, behavioral, social, and communication challenges. My work is grounded in collaboration—bringing together school teams, families, and community partners to create meaningful, individualized support for neurodiverse learners and students with social and communication differences.
I hold a Specialist of Arts in Special Education Administration from Eastern Michigan University, with Director and Supervisor approvals, as well as a Master of Arts in Learning Disabilities. I also serve as an adjunct professor in Eastern Michigan University’s Department of Special Education and as the liaison for Washtenaw County’s Grow Your Own teacher preparation program, supporting paraeducators as they pursue special education teaching credentials and transition into licensed teaching roles.
My professional experience includes specialized training and certifications in areas that support inclusive, relationship-centered practice, including Independent Facilitation through the Michigan Developmental Disabilities Council and Wayne State University, Adult and Youth Mental Health First Aid, Evidence-Based Practices in Autism Spectrum Disorder through the START Project, and Critical Friends Group Coaching through the National School Reform Faculty.
I’m especially passionate about supporting adult learners who aspire to work with young people with neurodiversity. Whether I’m consulting with a school team, supporting a family, teaching future special educators, or mentoring paraeducators entering the teaching profession, I believe meaningful change happens through thoughtful relationships, creative problem-solving, and the intentional use of evidence-based practices.
Outside of my professional work, I enjoy live music, traveling, hiking, and exploring the outdoors with my husband and son. We share our home in the Ann Arbor area with our two rescue cats.
