Celine Bonanno

Hello, I’m Celine. I am currently a third-year student living in Guelph, Ontario, Canada majoring in Biological Science with a focus on health science at the University of Guelph. Before attending University in 2016, I went to St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic High School in Aurora, Ontario which is where I grew up the majority of my life. A few people who have inspired me in the science world is Bill Nye, Hank Green, Elon Musk and Steven Hawking. I believe these people have made a tremendous influence on my life, especially since I have focused more in biological and health science at university.

I was four-months-old when my family and I moved to Canada from Malta. My brother, Justin, was 2 years old and my parents, Martha and Ken, were in their mid-twenties when we moved across the world. Although Malta is a beautiful country with an astonishing history, by moving to Canada my parents have provided me and my brother with plenty more opportunities and experiences that we may have not had if we stayed living in Malta.

My friends and family are an extremely important aspect of my life as their love and support continue to motivate me as they are immensely encouraging and loving. I competitively rode horses since 2010 and competed at multiple horse shows before starting university in the fall of 2016. In my last year of competitively riding horses, I was nominated and awarded with the Junior Sportsmanship Award.

During my free time, I enjoy photography, discovering new music, making music playlists, hiking, and cooking. Some of my other interests also include gardening. Starting in May 2018, I worked as a gardener at The Rock Golf Club and Cleveland's House in Minett, Ontario for the duration of the summer. I am very excited to be working in Muskoka again this year as it is such a beautiful place to live along with the many beautiful lakes it consists of.

I have many interests in plenty of different subjects making it difficult to know exactly what my future career goal is. I am very interested in the health sciences along with statistics, geography, and horticulture. Thus being said, my future career goal would be doing something I truly enjoy along with bettering the quality of life for people and our environment.
