Having completed studies in Business Management and Administration in South Africa, Celso Correia serves as Chairman of Insitec Holdings. A major presence in the Mozambican infrastructure building and energy sectors, the firm has taken significant shareholder stakes in numerous enterprises over the past six years. Celso Correia notably heads the sub-holdings Insitec Investimentos, Insitec Constrói, and Insitec Imobiliária, which facilitate real estate development, construction, and infrastructural improvements.
Mr. Correia's corporate leadership responsibilities include a position as Chairman of Banco Comercial de Investimento (BCI). Insitec holds a substantial minority stake in a firm positioned as the second-largest retail bank in Mozambique. Under Celso Correia's guidance, BCI sponsors a variety of annual cultural events, including the Dockanema documentary film festival and the Mozambique Music Awards.
Celso Correia's involvement in the energy sphere includes major investment as a shareholder in hydroelectric, ethanol, and methanol production efforts. In creating the world's most efficient methanol plant by 2017, Mr. Correia is positioning his firm to meet expanding demand for the petroleum alternative in China and other international markets. The Hidroeléctrica de Mphanda Nkuwa, SA. plant construction project benefits from downstream hydroelectric power provided by the Cahora Bassa dam. When completed, the plant will extend Mozambique's energy independence and provide exportable power-grid capacities.
As President of Corredor de Desenvolvimento do Norte, Celso Correia leads an Insitec-held firm that coordinates infrastructure management activities with Central East African Railways. Both part of SDCN, the entities oversee the Nacala deepwater port and the connected Malawi railway system, which encompasses approximately 1700 kilometers of track. In guiding Corredor de Desenvolvimento do Norte, Celso Correia is committed to enhancing operational efficiencies in a vital transport and shipment system that has driven Mozambican economic growth for decades.
