Cem Akça, Ph.D.

Professor Akça was born in Istanbul, Turkey. He received BS, MS and Ph.D. degrees in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from Yildiz Technical University, Istanbul, Turkey in 1999, 2002 and 2006, respectively. He then did a post-doctoral fellowship in materials science at Czech Technical University in Prague. His current research focuses on biomedical applications of biodegradable alloys and biopolymers. Currently, he is occupied in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering as an associate professor (and vice-chair of the Department) and he is one of the Mendeley Advisors in Turkey. He teaches Materials Science, Project Management, Entrepreneurship (graduate), Biopolymers (graduate), Biomedical Materials and Principles of Engineering Design.
