Chrystel Erotokritou holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nicosia (UNic). During her undergraduate studies she was an active member of the Law Society. In 2009 she won a competitive grant from the American Fulbright Commission in Cyprus and followed summer session courses at the Johns Hopkins University in the United States. Chrystel participated to the International Student Festival in Trondheim (Norway) in 2009 as a representative of Cyprus. In 2010 she took part to the Model United Nations organized by the University of Stockholm. Chrystel successfully competed at the Second International Air Law Moot Court Competition in Dubai jointly organized by Leiden University and the Sarin Legal Foundation. Having a strong interest in air law, Chrystel decided to pursue her studies at the graduate level in this particular field of law. Chrystel was awarded a full merit scholarship by Leiden University in the Netherlands where she obtained an Advanced Master in Air and Space Law in August 2012. Upon graduation, Chrystel worked as a trainee within the legal department of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in Cologne. At EASA she was assigned to work on a range of different projects, including the preparation of a legal opinion on the application of Article 83bis of the Chicago Convention from a European perspective, a legal analysis of the extraterritorial effects of legislation and policy in the European Union and the United States in relation to aviation, and preparation of a legal opinion on the potential incompatibility between the standards adopted by the European Committee for Standardization and the European Aviation Safety Agency. Chrystel is a member of the European Air Law Association.

She is now a PhD candidate in the field of air law. Her PhD research focuses on The Legal Framework (lack of) of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems: Liability Issues and Security Challenges.
