César Souto

Filmmaker and Producer in Santiago de Compostela

My name is César Souto and I am a Galician filmmaker whose first feature film, Os dias afogados (2016), was screened at 20+ international festivals such as FIDOCS (Chile), Tolouse CINESPAIN (France), or Play-Doc (Spain). I am about to finish the editing of The Quiet Days of Mr. Stevens, an avant-garde documentary inspired by the work of Wallace Stevens filmed in Hartford, Connecticut, and New York City. My film essay Interregno, a filmic correspondences with the Spanish artist Fernando Gómez-Luna made during the COVID lockdown, premiered in the last edition of Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival (Czech Republic). I am currently developing a project about the Galician cult band 7lvvas that blends together documentary and the classical musical film genre. I am also the author of two poetry collections published in Galician.
